December, 2018 – Blessed Bag is always searching for individuals and groups to partner with to help further our mission. We had the opportunity to work with the freshman students of class 101 at Point Park University on their Service Learning Project. This class is designed to have the students become acclimated with college life and urban living in Pittsburgh. One core component of this work is service learning where the students are taught the difference between volunteering and service learning. The class was given several charity options to work with and they immediately felt a connection with Blessed Bag’s mission of helping people experiencing and fighting cancer.
In October of 2018, Jessica Main was invited to speak with the students about Blessed Bag and the areas where the charity needed development and assistance. The students were excited to use their resources and ideas and began brainstorming for their final presentation to Blessed Bag at the end of November.
On November 28, 2018, the students presented their ideas to Ms. Main and one board member. The students demonstrated creativity and passion for the project and shared ideas for expanding Blessed Bag’s branding, holiday fundraisers, social media and process enhancements. “I was overwhelmed with the students final project, it really exceeded all my expectations. We are truly honored to have these bright students give their time and energy to help our charity improve and grow!” – Jessica Main, President of Blessed Bag.
We can’t thank the students at Point Park enough for the time and hard work that they dedicated to this project. They presented some exciting ideas that we look forward to implementing as we continue to grow in 2019 and beyond.
